Morocco is on the cusp of finalizing its government formation, with meetings scheduled for today, Sunday, to determine the composition of the cabinet and parliamentary leadership. According to sources close to the matter, Fatima Zahra El Mansouri will preside over the meetings, which are expected to conclude tonight. The meetings aim to finalize the formation of the governmental majority and distribution of ministerial portfolios.

The new governmental alliance is expected to consist primarily of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) and parties from the bloc, with the exclusion of the Popular Movement party from the government. El Mansouri is set to meet with leaders and representatives of the new majority, including the Independence Party, the Socialist Union, and the Party of Progress and Socialism.

Regarding the leadership of the House of Representatives, tonight's meeting is expected to formally decide on the name of the person who will assume this position. The PAM had previously proposed the name of Ahmed Touizi for this responsibility, following coordination with its parliamentary group and after the opening of Parliament by the King.

The determination of the parliamentary leadership is expected to expedite the scheduling of a voting session in Parliament to elect the council's president and structure. This, in turn, will enable the government to prepare its program and be installed as soon as possible. These meetings are considered crucial as they will provide the final picture of the governmental map and determine who will lead the first chamber of Parliament.

In related news, a court ruling has annulled the election of a local councilor from 2021, which remains pending execution. Meanwhile, in the Shishawa province, recent floods have resulted in the deaths of four people, including an infant. Separately, a young Moroccan woman who died at Abha airport in Saudi Arabia following a Houthi attack was buried in Mecca today.

The Union of Constitutional Parties has opted for "critical support" for El Mansouri's government. This development comes as the country navigates its political landscape following the parliamentary elections.

The finalization of the government formation and parliamentary leadership is expected to bring stability and clarity to Morocco's political scene. With the proposed cabinet composition and leadership in place, the government can move forward with its agenda and priorities.
