The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has praised His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, for his efforts in promoting household wealth creation and youth skilling initiatives that align with government programs. This commendation was made during the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of the Kyabazinga held at the Mayuge District Headquarters. The event was attended by thousands of Basoga and notable figures, including the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.
The coronation anniversary was celebrated under the theme “Strengthening Our Cultural Norms and Values for Development.” Minister Babalanda expressed her gratitude to the Kyabazinga for sending a delegation to represent Busoga at the burial of the late mother of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro. This gesture was highly appreciated, showcasing the Kyabazinga's commitment to fostering relationships with other kingdoms.
The Kyabazinga's recent visit to Budiope West Constituency on September 9, 2026, was also highlighted by Minister Babalanda. During this visit, the Kyabazinga launched the construction of school dormitories and a kitchen at Kitaidhumbwa Community Primary School and distributed cocoa seedlings. He encouraged the people of Budiope to grow coffee and cocoa as sustainable cash crops for household incomes. These initiatives reflect the Kyabazinga's focus on improving education and economic opportunities.
Minister Babalanda hailed the Kyabazinga's focus on skilling youth across Busoga, noting that it complements the Presidential Skilling Hubs established by President Museveni to address unemployment and poverty. She encouraged the people of Busoga to participate in government programs such as the Youth Livelihood Programme, Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the Four-Acre Model. These programs are aimed at providing viable pathways out of poverty.
In addition to praising the Kyabazinga, Minister Babalanda mobilized the people of Busoga to participate in the 4th Edition of the Busoga Prayer Week, scheduled for September 21-26, 2026. This event, organized by the Busoga Consortium for Development, aims to bring together people of various denominations to pray for Busoga and Uganda. She also invited Basoga to join her at a thanksgiving ceremony on September 23, 2026, where President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the Chief Guest.
