The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his exceptional leadership and infrastructure development in the state. During an interactive session at the Government House in Enugu, NGE's President Eze Anaba noted that Mbah's administration has demonstrated a clear vision for the state's growth. The session was part of this year's All Nigerian Editors Conference (ANEC), which drew over 300 editors, senior media executives, and veterans.
Governor Mbah's administration has executed several mega projects, including the Enugu International Hospital, a 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway, and the resuscitated Hotel Presidential. The NGE president stated that these projects are a testament to what a sub-national government can achieve with visionary leadership. He added that Enugu State's infrastructure development is a beacon of hope for Nigeria's growth.
The NGE president highlighted that the guild had previously seen some of the state's projects, including smart schools, a technical, vocational education and training college, and modern transport terminals. Eze Anaba noted that the state's pipe-borne water project, which had not been functional for years, is now operational. He commended Mbah's dedication to governance and infrastructure development.
A former governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Oshoba, praised Mbah's infrastructural milestones, particularly in the area of security. Oshoba cited the swift deployment of the state's security assets to track down kidnappers who breached security at Affa in Udi Local Government Area. He urged other states to emulate Enugu's hi-tech statewide surveillance systems.
Governor Mbah thanked the media executives for visiting some of the projects, which were designed to fulfil his campaign promise to grow Enugu State's economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. He noted that the projects are interconnected and mutually reinforcing, aiming to achieve a common objective of making Enugu State a preferred destination for investment, business, tourism, and living.
Mbah's administration has also focused on education, with the development of mega smart secondary schools and an integrated livestock hub that can accommodate up to 40,000 cattle. The state's Command and Control Centre has significantly contributed to driving down the crime rate. Eze Anaba applauded the prevailing peer-review mindset among some state governors, who have sent officials to understudy Mbah's policies and projects.
