The Mauritius government and the label 'Made in Moris' have jointly celebrated the success of their three-year initiative, 'En Route vers Made in Moris'. The program aimed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in obtaining the 'Made in Moris' label, which is crucial for their growth. The initiative was launched in 2024 to address the high failure rate of SMEs in securing this label, with nearly 80% previously unable to obtain it.

The third cohort of the program has seen 31 out of 42 selected SMEs complete the program, with 29 of them successfully obtaining the 'Made in Moris' label for 38 new brands. This represents a success rate of 94%, demonstrating the rigor and commitment of the participating artisans and producers. The program provided tailored support and training to help SMEs meet the required standards.

The 'Made in Moris' label is a mark of quality and authenticity, and the program has had a significant impact on the Mauritian economy. The participating SMEs have shown remarkable improvement, with a 37% increase in their quality scores on average. The program has also led to the creation of over 1,200 jobs and a cumulative turnover of over 1.2 billion rupees.

Several SMEs stood out for their exceptional performance, including Krea Lokal, which specializes in textile macramé, and Autentica Avventura, which creates authentic tourist experiences. Ying Ying, a local dumpling manufacturer, was also praised for its significant transformation. LKS and Mr Bao received a mention for their outstanding attendance.

The program has been supported by various partners, including the Mauritius Commercial Bank, which is offering the first year of membership to all new label holders. The bank's support aims to help the SMEs grow and expand their businesses. The program's success has been attributed to the collaboration between the government, the 'Made in Moris' label, and the participating SMEs.

According to Yvan Charlotte, the program has accompanied 124 enterprises over the past three years, with 96 SMEs successfully obtaining the 'Made in Moris' label. The program involved over 210 hours of theoretical training, 600 hours of individualized coaching, and numerous on-site visits to ensure compliance.

The 'Made in Moris' initiative has showcased the diversity and quality of Mauritian products, ranging from textiles to agro-processing, and digital and craft industries. The program's impact is expected to continue to grow, contributing to the development of the Mauritian economy and promoting the country's products globally.
