A public notice was issued on Wednesday morning regarding a preventive recall of certain Yop products, a brand of Yoplait, marketed in Mauritius and Rodrigues. The recall is due to a risk of presence of hard and white plastic foreign objects in some bottles. The products concerned are Yop drinking yogurts of 250 grams, all references combined.

The recall was issued following consumer reports of possible presence of foreign objects in some bottles. The products concerned were manufactured between August 24 and September 30, 2026, inclusive. The expiration dates range from September 23 to October 30, 2026, inclusive. The product is manufactured by Maurilait Production Ltée and distributed by Panagora Marketing Co Ltd.

According to information, around 100,000 bottles currently on the market in Mauritius and Rodrigues are concerned by the recall. However, this does not mean that all 100,000 bottles contain a foreign object. The recall is preventive, as the products concerned present a potential risk of presence of hard and white plastic pieces in some bottles. The identified risk is that of accidental ingestion of a plastic foreign object.

Consumers can verify the information on the bottle to identify if it is concerned. On the cap, they need to check the manufacturing date (MFG): from August 24 to September 30, 2026, inclusive; and the expiration date (EXP): from September 23 to October 30, 2026, inclusive. Under the bottle, there are also identification numbers. The numbers indicated in the notice are: 6, 9, and 11.

The products concerned have been marketed in Mauritius and Rodrigues, in around 2,900 points of sale across the two islands. The different points of sale concerned have already been informed of the situation. They are required to refund consumers who report a bottle corresponding to the recall criteria.

The instruction to consumers is clear: do not consume the products concerned. If a bottle corresponding to the recall criteria has been purchased, return it to the point of sale where it was bought. The store must proceed to refund the purchase price of the bottle. Consumers are recommended to verify the information on the cap and under the bottle before consuming them.

The recall is due to the possible presence of hard and white plastic foreign objects in some bottles. The manufacturer states that this decision is part of a willingness to prioritize consumer safety and transparency. The company claims to want to be alongside consumers and have chosen to take the lead by proceeding with this recall, following the reports received.
