Mauritania's Prime Minister Moktار Ould Ajaib has announced that the government has made significant progress in various sectors since 2019. In education, the government has built approximately 7,600 classrooms, with nearly half of them being completed between 2025 and 2026. This has led to a substantial increase in the capacity for higher education and vocational training.

In the healthcare sector, the government has constructed and equipped two regional hospitals and expanded and renovated a national hospital. Currently, work is underway to build five regional hospitals, around 65 health centers, and 114 health posts. Additionally, the government has launched projects to improve healthcare infrastructure in Nouakchott as part of the second phase of the city's development program.

The government has also made notable progress in improving access to clean water. The issue of sedimentation in Nouakchott has been resolved, and water production in Idini has more than doubled. Furthermore, water production in Afotout Echarki has tripled, and the amount of water available in Nouadhibou has doubled. Several projects, including the multiplication of water in "Azzur" and the supply of drinking water to the Kori-Keife line, are nearing completion.

In the electricity sector, the government has launched work on three new power plants and acquired 55 generators since 2019 to provide services in major cities. Currently, efforts are being made to electrify over 400 villages and mobilize resources to finance the largest electricity transmission project in Mauritania's history, the Nouakchott-Nema high-voltage line.

The government has also invested in road infrastructure, completing 784 kilometers of new roads and rebuilding 997 kilometers of existing roads since 2019. Work is ongoing to build or rehabilitate 1,431 kilometers of roads. Notably, the rehabilitation of the "Road of Hope" has been completed, and the road is now passable.

Prime Minister Ould Ajaib emphasized that despite these achievements, the government's efforts remain below the aspirations of President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani and the expectations of the Mauritanian people. He acknowledged that the work accomplished so far is human and may contain errors or shortcomings.

The Prime Minister assured that the government will continue to work diligently to meet its responsibilities. Key projects, including the construction of new bridges and the development of infrastructure in various regions, are set to commence soon. The government aims to sustain its efforts to address the needs and expectations of the population.
