The 31st edition of Mali's Solidarity Month and fight against social exclusion was launched in the Dioïla region on October 8. General Kèba Sangaré, the region's governor, initiated the activities under the theme "Solidarity, a lever for promoting culture and civic education." The ceremony brought together various stakeholders, including administrative and local authorities, technical service officials, civil society representatives, religious and traditional leaders, youth, women, people with disabilities, and defense and security forces.
The event's host, Kaladougou Mayor Yacouba Dowélé, emphasized that sharing is a core value in Malian society. Baba Togola, the edition's sponsor and former Koulikoro Regional Assembly president, welcomed his appointment and praised the commitment of Mali's transitional president, General Assimi Goïta, to national sovereignty. General Sangaré commended national authorities for supporting vulnerable groups, citing the allocation of two-thirds of the president's sovereignty fund to their benefit.
General Sangaré also thanked the Prime Minister for his engagement in this solidarity effort. He praised a local couple who had taken in quadruplets at Dioïla's referral health center. During the launch, the governor symbolically handed over a kit to Samou Sidibé and visited 122-year-old Gnéssou Togola, providing her with essential items and an envelope.
The activities of this edition, running from October 1 to 31, are organized around four thematic weeks. These include the week of elderly people, from October 1-7, sponsored by Colonel-Major Sékou Doumbia; the week of women and children, from October 8-14, sponsored by Honorable Kadidia Sangaré; the week of people living with disabilities, from October 15-21, sponsored by Colonel-Major Dassé Marico; and the week of youth, employment, and entrepreneurship, from October 22-31, sponsored by Soumaïla Soumaïla.
The Dioïla region received support from the Ministry of Health, including 100 bags of 50 kg rice and 100 five-liter oil drums, which were distributed to vulnerable groups. The UNICEF contributed 200 school kits to the operation. These donations aim to support the region's most vulnerable populations.
