Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has hosted its maiden International Conference for the newly established Business School. The two-day event, held from September 28 to 29, brought together academics, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. The Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Professor Ibrahim Danjuma, emphasized that the Business School will enhance the university's role in entrepreneurship and business development. The pioneer Director of the MAU Business School, Professor Bashir Ahmad Daneji, stated that the school will provide advanced business education, executive training, and leadership development. This will support professional capacity building and contribute to economic growth. The conference featured presentations by renowned academics, including Professor Isaac Ediba of Gombe State University and Professor Jibril Abdulsalam of Nasarawa State University. Ediba discussed the role of small-scale businesses in poverty reduction, while Abdulsalam focused on innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. Professor Helen Afang Andow of Kaduna State University delivered the keynote address virtually, highlighting business innovation, digital intelligence, and sustainable approaches to economic development.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Aliyu Abubakar, represented by Engr. Joro Sallau, stressed the importance of reliable electricity for business and economic development. He cited the 5-megawatt solar power plant provided to the university as an example of energy infrastructure supporting institutional and economic activities. This initiative demonstrates the agency's commitment to facilitating economic growth through energy solutions.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Adamawa Business School, Jamilu Yusuf Dan Umma, expressed readiness to collaborate with MAU Business School in business education and entrepreneurship. He described the two institutions as "partners in progress." This potential partnership can foster knowledge sharing, resource utilization, and innovative learning approaches.
