Mamadou Baldé, President of the Guinean Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Craftsmanship (CCIAG), has been elected as the 3rd vice-president of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI). This election took place during the organization's General Assembly held on September 28-29, 2026, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Baldé will serve a two-year term, which is renewable.
This election marks a significant milestone for Guinea, as it is the first time the country has been represented in the bureau of this sub-regional organization since the creation of its chamber of commerce in 1972. FEWACCI aims to strengthen commercial exchanges between West African countries, facilitate trade, promote partnerships between private sectors, and improve the business climate.
Following his election, Baldé expressed his gratitude to his collaborators, consular officials, and the administration of CCIAG. He emphasized that the progress made by the institution is a result of collective efforts. Guinea aims to strengthen its presence in international economic organizations, and Baldé's election is part of this dynamic.
According to Baldé, the Guinean Chamber of Commerce has made significant strides in recent years, becoming present in various consular instances worldwide. He mentioned Guinea's accession to FEWACCI, the Pan-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACI), and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, based in Saudi Arabia.
These initiatives aim to facilitate contacts between Guinean economic operators and their foreign counterparts, encourage partnerships, and attract investors to Guinea. Baldé explained that the CCIAG facilitates meetings and connections between operators, promoting integration with other high-level operators in Guinea.
With this new responsibility, the CCIAG intends to increase the visibility of Guinean products on regional and international markets. Baldé stated that the objective is to promote "Made in Guinea" products, enabling the country to establish itself in West African and African trade, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The new FEWACCI bureau will prioritize the integration of chambers of commerce from Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso into the organization's activities. Baldé announced that one of the first missions of the new team will be to visit these countries, meet with their authorities, and advocate for increased participation of their chambers of commerce in FEWACCI activities.
