On September 29, Malian President Assimi Goïta received the 2025 annual report from the Mediator of the Republic, Sanogo Aminata Mallé. The report outlines the institution's activities, including the handling of citizen complaints and recommendations for improved governance. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, the President of the National Transition Council (CNT), and government members. This event marks an essential step in promoting transparency and accountability in Mali's administration.

The report highlights that 12,488 citizen concerns were addressed, and 184 complaints were registered in 2025. Land-related issues constituted 22% of the complaints, with the Mediator's office noting the successful establishment of a specialized land pole in August. The report also praises the 29th edition of the Democratic Interpellation Space (EID), which enables citizens to directly address concerns to the administration. These efforts demonstrate the Mediator's commitment to enhancing citizen-administration interactions.

The report is structured into five main sections, covering the Mediator's activities, national and international actions, capacity-building initiatives, and comments on various sectors. Recommendations focus on improving land and financial management, social protection, and the execution of court decisions and public contracts. These suggestions aim to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of Mali's administration.

President Assimi Goïta emphasized the importance of treating citizen complaints with diligence and executing court decisions and recommendations. He stressed that the administration's impact is measured by its concrete effects on citizens' daily lives, citing examples such as timely file processing, pension payments, and land title issuance. The President's remarks underscore the need for a more responsive and accountable administration.

The President encouraged administrations to collaborate with the Mediator's office, viewing it as a partner in improving public service quality rather than an adversary. He praised the new Ségou territorial delegation office and advocated for continued relations between the Mediator and civil society organizations. This collaborative approach is expected to enhance governance and promote the "Mali Kura" (New Mali) vision.

The Mediator's office plans to pursue sensitization actions, strengthen territorial presence, and construct new delegation offices. The resumption of open hearings and continued digitalization of services are also among the priorities. These initiatives aim to increase the institution's effectiveness and accessibility, ultimately enhancing citizen-administration interactions.

The annual report and President Goïta's remarks highlight the significance of a culture of responsibility and citizen engagement in Mali's governance. The Mediator's institution plays a vital role in promoting this culture, and its continued efforts are expected to contribute to the country's progress toward a more responsive and accountable administration.
