The 27th annual meeting of the UEMOA Court of Auditors kicked off in Bamako on October 5, 2026. The event, which will conclude on October 9, brings together presidents of the Courts of Auditors from UEMOA member states and councilors of the UEMOA Court of Auditors. The meeting aims to discuss several key issues, including the evaluation of control systems in member states and the results of financial audits conducted in 2025.
The meeting's agenda includes assessing the execution of budgets as of December 31, 2025, and examining the examination of public debt service by financial jurisdictions. Participants will also discuss the methodological approaches and best practices for auditing public debt. A communication from Afritac will shed light on the strategy for managing public debt. Furthermore, the meeting will provide an opportunity to share the experience of the Senegalese Court of Auditors on the role and value added of audits in assessing public finance situations.
The meeting's objectives also include examining and adopting a regional framework for exchanges and cooperation between financial jurisdictions in the UEMOA space. Additionally, participants will examine and adopt a harmonized practical guide for the functioning of financial jurisdiction registries in member states. They will also formulate suggestions for the 27th edition and project the organization of the 28th annual meeting.
During the opening ceremony, Mali's Minister of State for Economy and Finance, Alousséni Sanou, highlighted the importance of the UEMOA Court of Auditors and the national Courts of Auditors. He emphasized Mali's commitment to community cooperation and support for reforms related to public finance frameworks, transparency, and resource management quality.
The President of the UEMOA Court of Auditors, Sègnon Yves Marie Adissin, and the Resident Representative of UEMOA in Mali, Roberto Alexandre Vieira, expressed gratitude to the Malian authorities for hosting the meeting. They acknowledged the significance of the event and the measures taken to ensure its success.
The President of the Accounts Section of the Malian Supreme Court, Mohamed Lamine Coulibaly, welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to the presidents of the Courts of Auditors of member states and the UEMOA Court of Auditors for entrusting Mali with hosting the meeting. He emphasized that the event takes place at a pivotal moment in the history of Mali's financial jurisdiction.
