In a significant development, three health structures in Bamako's 4th district have been equipped with solar panels as part of the social initiatives of Mali's Transition President. The equipped structures include the René Cissé maternity hospital in Hamdallaye, the Lafiabougou sectors III and IV Community Health Association (ASACOLA I), and the Lafiabougou-Bougoudani-Taliko community health center. This initiative aims to improve healthcare services by ensuring a reliable energy supply.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Aguibou Dembélé, Special Advisor to the President of the Transition, along with a strong delegation of officials, including the representative of the Bamako district governor, the sub-prefect of the 4th district, and the chief medical officer of the district. Dembélé emphasized that the President's goal is to provide solidarity to those in need and ensure that healthcare centers are electrified to facilitate medical care.
The program to equip health centers with solar panels began with major health facilities, including the Mali hospital, the dermatological center, and the Gabriel Touré hospital. The initiative has now expanded to smaller health centers closer to local populations. According to Dembélé, the President wants to ensure that patients receive medical care without delay due to electricity shortages.
The chief medical officer of the 4th district, Dr. Diakaridia Koné, welcomed the initiative, stating that it addresses a long-standing energy problem affecting healthcare services. He mentioned that the district has benefited from a total of eight solar installations, with three inaugurated during the ceremony. These installations enable the continuity of the cold chain and the proper functioning of equipment used in tuberculosis treatment.
The local community has expressed satisfaction with the initiative, believing it will improve access to healthcare services. The initiative is part of the President's social programs, which include constructing hospitals, classrooms, and water supply projects. Dembélé assured that these social initiatives will continue across the country, with the goal of supporting Malians in need.
The equipped health structures will now be able to operate 24/7, thanks to the solar panels. This development is expected to significantly improve healthcare services in the area, enabling medical staff to provide essential care without interruption. The initiative has been hailed as a positive step towards addressing the healthcare needs of local populations.
The social initiatives of the Transition President aim to support vulnerable populations and improve living conditions. The solar panel installation program is a key component of these efforts, ensuring that healthcare services are accessible and reliable. The program is expected to continue, with further installations planned for other health centers across the country.
