In a gesture of solidarity, the Banque de Développement du Mali (BDM-SA) has donated food items worth 20.5 million Fcfa to the Direction du service social des armées (DSSA). The donation includes 30 tonnes of rice, 10 tonnes of sugar, and 580 five-liter jugs of cooking oil. The ceremony took place in the presence of BDM-SA's secretary general, Cheick Fantamady Keïta, and the director of DSSA, Colonel-major Brehima Samaké.
This initiative is part of the 31st edition of the Mois de la solidarité et de la lutte contre l’exclusion. According to Cheick Fantamady Keïta, BDM-SA's social program has included this action for several years. He stated that the bank's commitment is renewed every year in October, which is dedicated to solidarity and anti-exclusion efforts in Mali. Keïta emphasized that the donation is a way for the bank to honor soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
The donation is also a way for BDM-SA to demonstrate its social responsibility and contribute to the national effort to support families of fallen soldiers. Keïta noted that when a person dies for the common cause, their family becomes the responsibility of the entire community. He stressed that this collective responsibility must translate into concrete support for widows and orphans, particularly in ensuring education for children and meeting daily family needs.
Colonel-major Brehima Samaké, director of DSSA, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a valuable gesture of solidarity and humanism. He emphasized that the donation is a testament to the compassion and recognition of the national community for families of soldiers and paramilitaries who have fallen in defense of the country. Samaké also highlighted BDM-SA's loyalty in renewing its support for the same beneficiaries over the years.
Salimata Dianka, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to BDM-SA for its generosity and praised the authorities' commitment to supporting widows and orphans. Colonel-major Brehima Samaké thanked the BDM-SA management on behalf of the government and expressed hope that this partnership will be sustained. For these families, the support represents more than just a food donation; it is a reminder that behind every sacrifice, there are children to educate, widows to support, and lives to rebuild.
The donation is part of BDM-SA's efforts to demonstrate its social responsibility and contribute to the well-being of families of fallen soldiers. The bank's commitment to supporting these families is reflected in its annual donations during the Mois de la solidarité et de la lutte contre l’exclusion. This gesture is also a way for BDM-SA to honor the memory of soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
The event highlights the importance of solidarity and social responsibility in Mali. The donation by BDM-SA is a testament to the bank's commitment to supporting vulnerable families and contributing to the national effort to promote social cohesion and inclusion. The initiative also underscores the need for collective action to support families of fallen soldiers and ensure their well-being.
