On October 12, 2026, Paul Makonda, the Minister of Information, Arts, Culture, and Sports, officially opened the new Bugumangala Primary School in Mwanza Region. The school, located in Bugumangala Village, Nyanguge Ward, Magu District, was constructed at a cost of TSH 430.7 million. The funds were provided by the government through the BOOST program in the 2025/2026 financial year. The project is fully completed and already in use.

During the inauguration ceremony, Makonda commended the Bugumangala community for their dedication, including donating over seven hectares of land and providing labor for the construction. He noted that this cooperation demonstrates the community's commitment to supporting government efforts to improve access to education. Additionally, Makonda pledged to donate roofing materials to further develop and complete the remaining infrastructure, aiming to enhance the teaching and learning environment.

Earlier, Mwanza Regional Commissioner, CP Salum Hamduni, expressed gratitude to the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for implementing the project. He stated that the new school will alleviate congestion in existing schools and increase access to primary education for children in Bugumangala and surrounding areas. The school is expected to improve academic performance, teaching efficiency, and teacher welfare, ultimately contributing to social and economic development through quality education.

The Magu District Council Director, Mohamed Ramadhani, provided details on the project's scope, including the construction of an administration building, six primary school classrooms, and an early childhood education building with two rooms. The project also included toilets, a fence, and a teacher's house that can accommodate two families. Ramadhani noted that the construction process created temporary employment opportunities for 87 community members, including 82 men and five women, thereby increasing income-generating activities for participants.

The completion of the Bugumangala Primary School is expected to improve access to classrooms, sanitation facilities, administrative offices, and teacher housing. This development is anticipated to enhance the quality of education for children in the area. The school's inauguration marks a significant milestone in the government's efforts to expand and improve educational infrastructure in Tanzania.

The BOOST program, which funded the project, is part of the government's initiatives to boost education sector development. The program aims to improve educational outcomes by investing in infrastructure, resources, and teacher training. The Bugumangala Primary School project is a testament to the government's commitment to enhancing access to quality education for all Tanzanians.

The new school is expected to have a positive impact on the community, providing a conducive learning environment for children and supporting the local economy.
