The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation, led by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has set a target of securing at least 41 million votes in the 2027 presidential election. According to Lawal Daura, the Vice Presidential Candidate, this goal is based on the reported figure of about 103 million registered voters, with the aim of securing two-fifths of the electorate. Daura made this disclosure at the inauguration of the National Campaign Management Committee.

Daura emphasized that the campaign would focus on canvassing for votes through its programmes, policies, and engagement with Nigerians, rather than relying on shortcuts. He warned those contemplating electoral malpractice that the campaign would insist on strict compliance with the law and the Electoral Act. Daura also cautioned that attempts to rig the election would be met with resistance, saying that the struggle for a free and fair election is real.

The APM's goal is to reposition the country through a "reset," which would involve reviewing and reforming fundamental aspects of Nigeria's political and governance structure. Daura noted that this task would require committed and experienced personnel, which is why the campaign committee has been constituted with individuals considered capable of delivering the objective. With barely 100 days to the election, the campaign cannot afford to leave its preparations to chance.

APM National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, emphasized that the overriding objective of the campaign is to secure victory for the Seyi Makinde/Lawal Daura ticket and form the next government at the federal level. He acknowledged that the campaign would face challenges, including differences among members drawn from diverse political, religious, and social backgrounds. Dantalle urged members of the newly inaugurated committee to manage such differences constructively.

Dantalle cautioned that the inauguration of the campaign committee should not be mistaken for victory, saying members must translate their appointments into effective mobilisation and electoral success. He urged the committee to work with the party structures to ensure that all stakeholders operated from the same page. The APM chairman also stressed that the campaign's ability to work together would be critical to its objective.

The different levels of political experience among members of the campaign should be viewed as an advantage, rather than a source of division, according to Dantalle. He noted that while some members had participated only in local government or state elections, others had experience of national elections, adding that accommodating the differences would strengthen the organisation.

The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has been tasked with demonstrating focus, determination, and commitment to succeed. Daura expressed confidence in the team's ability to prosecute the campaign, charging members to work towards translating their mandate into the desired electoral outcome. The campaign's success will depend on its ability to effectively mobilize voters and manage internal differences.
