Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is also the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has appointed former Minister of State for Aviation, Felix Hassan Hyat, as Director-General of the National Campaign Management Committee of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation. This appointment is in preparation for the 2027 presidential election. Hyat, a former Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, will oversee the national campaign management structure.
The appointment was announced by Makinde’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Anthony Ehilebo, in a statement. Along with Hyat, other appointments were made to strengthen the campaign organisation. Former Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Inna Ciroma, and Dr Anthony Aziegbemi were appointed as Deputy Directors-General for Administration and Operations respectively. These appointments aim to bring together political strategists, administrators, and mobilisers to coordinate the campaign’s activities across Nigeria.
The Makinde/Daura campaign organisation has also announced other key appointments. Alhaji Hamza Akuyam Koshe was appointed Director of Contact and Mobilisation, while Barrister Mark Jacob took on the role of Director of Legal and Compliance. Dr Ade Adeagbo was appointed Director of Administration and Strategy, and Hon Richard Ihediwa became Director of Strategic Communications. These appointments are part of efforts to promote the campaign’s “Reset Nigeria” message.
The campaign organisation is intensifying its activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The team will work to engage citizens and stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones through nationwide consultations and town hall meetings. The first zonal town hall meeting was held in Katsina in the North-West on September 22, followed by engagements in Uyo, Lafia, and Enugu. These meetings aim to provide platforms for discussing national issues.
Governor Makinde’s “Reset Nigeria” agenda is central to his presidential campaign. The agenda addresses critical issues such as security, education, the economy, and the socio-political environment. Through these engagements, Makinde aims to garner support and discuss matters concerning national stability and the welfare of Nigerians. The campaign organisation has urged APM members, supporters, and others who identify with the “Reset Nigeria” message to remain committed.
The appointments announced give the Makinde/Daura campaign a broader management structure. This structure covers mobilisation, communications, finance, security, legal affairs, women and youth coordination, strategy, administration, and monitoring. With Hyat at the head of the campaign’s national management committee, the APM is strengthening its preparations for the presidential contest.
Further appointments are expected as the campaign organisation continues to build its national structure. The latest appointments reflect the campaign’s efforts to consolidate its team and intensify its activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
