LUX Island Resorts has started its new financial year on a positive note, with a 5% increase in revenue to Rs 2.4 billion for the quarter ending 30 September 2026. The growth was driven by strong hotel performance in Mauritius, which offset operational difficulties and cost pressures in the Maldives. Profit attributable to shareholders rose to Rs 76 million, up from Rs 73 million in the same period last year.

The company's profit before tax remained stable at Rs 113 million, comparable to the previous year. Group operating profit stood at Rs 221 million, slightly down from Rs 226 million a year earlier. Mauritius continued to be the group's primary growth engine, delivering a 6% rise in operating profit to Rs 245 million. In La Réunion, operating profit returned to positive territory at Rs 1 million, recovering from a loss of Rs 3 million.

However, operating losses in the Maldives widened significantly from Rs 1 million to Rs 25 million. Across all properties, group occupancy averaged 83%, compared to 84% a year earlier. Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) grew by 8% and 6%, respectively. The company's properties in Mauritius maintained a high occupancy rate of 89%, with a 7% increase in ADR lifting RevPAR by 6%.

In the Maldives, LUX South Ari Atoll recorded an occupancy rate of 59%, down 5 percentage points from 2025. However, a 17% rise in ADR drove RevPAR up by 9%. La Réunion saw improved performance, with occupancy up 2 percentage points to 80% and RevPAR up 5%. The company attributed the growth in Mauritius to a 7% increase in tourists, with 374,000 visitors during the quarter, representing a 7% increase on the previous year.

Mauritius welcomed tourists from various countries, including France, the UK, Germany, and La Réunion, which collectively accounted for 48% of total arrivals. Strong growth was recorded from Germany, South Africa, India, and Saudi Arabia. In the Maldives, total visitor arrivals reached 527,000, flat compared to the previous year. China remained the top source market, accounting for 25% of arrivals, followed by Russia at 15%.

LUX Island Resorts is pressing ahead with planned capital investments across its portfolio, including renovations at LUX Saint Gilles in La Réunion, LUX Le Morne in Mauritius, and LUX South Ari Atoll in the Maldives. The company remains cautious about the impact of the Middle East conflict on its operations, particularly in the Maldives. Despite this, the group expects quarterly profit to remain comparable to the same period in 2025 while maintaining strict cost discipline.

Chief Executive Officer Désiré Elliah stated that the group is staying the course and reinforcing vigilance despite the conflict in the Middle East, which is heightening cost pressures, particularly in the Maldives. The company is focused on maintaining its performance and investing in its properties to drive future growth. Bookings for the quarter ending 31 December 2026 are slightly behind year-on-year, but RevPAR continues to trend upwards.
