Lockheed Martin, a global defense technology company, has announced the successful completion of the first test flight of the F-16 Block 72 aircraft destined for the Royal Moroccan Air Force. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the flight-test program ahead of the first delivery. The F-16 Block 70/72 is considered the most advanced version of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, featuring upgraded avionics, advanced sensors, and enhanced mission systems.

The F-16 Block 72 aircraft is set to contribute to supporting Morocco's sovereignty and regional stability. According to Mike Shoemaker, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin's Integrated Fighter Group, the successful test flight represents a tangible step forward in Morocco's F-16 Block 72 program. Shoemaker emphasized that the F-16 remains an essential component of air defense, today and tomorrow, and expressed pride in the role the aircraft will play in supporting Morocco's sovereignty.

Lockheed Martin has a longstanding partnership with Morocco, dating back over 50 years. The company delivered the first C-130 Hercules to Morocco in 1974. Currently, the Royal Moroccan Air Force operates F-16s, C-130s, advanced radar systems, and Black Hawk helicopters. Additionally, Morocco's military is set to receive HIMARS systems, which will provide long-range precision strike capabilities.

Lockheed Martin has committed to strengthening Morocco's industry and local technical expertise through its partnership with Maintenance Aéro Maroc. The company is establishing a repair and maintenance center in Benslimane, which will cover over 8,000 square meters and provide heavy maintenance and modernization of C-130 Hercules aircraft. The project plans to expand activities to other platforms, including the F-16.

Lockheed Martin is participating in this year's Marrakech Air Show as the Platinum Sponsor. The annual show will take place from October 7-10, bringing together international and local companies to showcase the latest defense technologies. Lockheed Martin will also showcase its latest features to further strengthen defense cooperation with Morocco.

As part of its participation in the Marrakech Air Show, Lockheed Martin will organize an Industry Day, marking the participation of Morocco's Ministry of Industry. This event aims to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between industry stakeholders.
