Lockheed Martin has revealed that the first F-16 Block 72 aircraft for the Moroccan Royal Air Force has successfully completed its maiden flight. This marks a significant milestone as the aircraft progresses through flight testing towards its initial delivery. The F-16 Block 72 is the most advanced variant of the Fighting Falcon, equipped with modern avionics, advanced sensors, enhanced mission systems, and improved safety and reliability features.
The F-16 Block 72 aircraft is part of a long-standing partnership between Lockheed Martin and the Kingdom of Morocco, which spans over 50 years. The partnership began with the delivery of the C-130H in 1974. Today, the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces operate F-16 and C-130 aircraft, as well as advanced radar systems and Black Hawk helicopters. The country is also set to receive the HIMARS system with precision long-range fire.

Lockheed Martin is committed to strengthening Morocco's industrial base and local technical expertise through partnerships like the Moroccan Aviation Maintenance project. The upcoming Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Benslimane, covering over 8,000 square meters, will support heavy maintenance and upgrades for C-130 Hercules aircraft, with plans to expand to other platforms like the F-16. This investment aligns with Morocco's ambition to become a regional hub for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul.
The F-16 Block 72 aircraft features advanced capabilities, including modern avionics, sophisticated sensors, and enhanced mission systems. These upgrades will significantly improve the Moroccan Royal Air Force's operational capabilities and effectiveness. The aircraft's advanced safety and reliability features will also ensure the protection of pilots and aircrew during missions.
