Vice Mayor of Yiwu City in China's Zhejiang Province, Gao Jin, has called on the world to see China in a new light, moving beyond outdated perspectives. He made this statement at a high-powered forum in Yiwu, attended by senior media practitioners and political party representatives from 22 countries. The forum was organized by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to showcase China's progress and successes in its development agenda.

The delegation of media practitioners and politicians visited four provinces in China, including Zhejiang, to observe and report on the country's development. They toured media houses, technology and innovation industries, cultural and historic sites, and economic hubs, interacting with local officials and gaining insights into China's growth. The goal was to understand China's efforts to open up to the world and embrace new ideas and economic dynamism.

Gao Jin described Yiwu as the world capital of small commodities, driven by the dynamism of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The city is renowned for its wide range of trade commodities, including household items, gadgets, and appliances. Yiwu's wholesale market for small commodities generates over $115 billion in trade annually, making it a significant economic hub in China.

As a major economic center, Yiwu hosts over 13,000 foreign nationals, fostering a culture of integration, warmth, equality, and hospitality. Gao Jin emphasized that the city's success is built on its business-friendly environment, trade digitization, and streamlined regulations for entrepreneurs. Yiwu has become a one-stop shop for small commodities, catering to global demand.

Gao Jin highlighted China's transformation over the decades, from a closed economy to a modest nation that has penetrated the global market. He attributed this success to China's leaders, culture, history, and the determination of its people. The Vice Mayor urged the media to correct misinformation and unfair impressions about China, portraying it as an unsafe and unwelcoming country.

Gao Jin's call to "let the world see China beyond the old perspective" means effectively opening up its markets, leveraging its vast business experience, and structuring small commodities for global benefit. He emphasized that China's market, spanning over eight million square meters, offers immense opportunities for international trade and cooperation.

The visit by the delegation of media practitioners and politicians reflects China's efforts to engage with the world and showcase its development progress. Gao Jin's message underscores the need for a fresh perspective on China, one that recognizes its openness, friendship, and trust. By doing so, the world can better understand China's role in global trade and cooperation.
