They noted that closer coordination among regulators, utilities, and transmission operators is essential to address operational requirements and support future growth. Both institutions identified reinforcement of the CLSG corridor as a priority, particularly with new generation projects emerging across the region.
To improve maintenance response and strengthen national capacity, Commissioner Kamara encouraged greater knowledge sharing, targeted training, staff secondments, and cooperation agreements with neighboring utilities. The parties also called for sustained capacity building, stronger donor coordination, and accelerated studies and investment to reinforce the corridor. These efforts aim to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the regional power system.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment to practical cooperation and dependable regional electricity trade between LERC and TRANSCO CLSG. Commissioner Kamara further emphasized the need for continued coordination between the two institutions to advance integration under the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Market. The two institutions recognize the importance of collaboration in addressing the region's energy challenges. By working together, they can promote a more reliable and sustainable electricity supply for the region.
