The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Benjamin Nartey Ayiku, has encouraged graduates of the National Association for Heavy-duty Equipment Operators Ghana (NAHEOG) to utilize their newly acquired skills effectively. He made this call at the Association's 11th Graduation Ceremony, where he was the Guest of Honour. Mr Ayiku emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and hard work as the graduands transition into the workforce. He urged them to contribute meaningfully to Ghana's development.

The President of NAHEOG, Dominic Kofi Eyiah, also addressed the graduands, highlighting the need for faith-based institutions to invest in technical and vocational skills training. He noted that churches, mosques, and other faith-based institutions have played significant roles in education, social welfare, and community development. According to Mr Eyiah, these institutions can make an even greater impact by equipping young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship, thereby addressing youth unemployment and promoting economic empowerment.

Mr Eyiah cited biblical and Quranic teachings on diligence and skilled work, emphasizing that effort, competence, and productivity are consistent with the values promoted by both Christianity and Islam. He stressed that addressing poverty requires practical efforts to equip people to work, build, and produce. By investing in vocational training, faith-based institutions can help bridge the gap between training and employment.

The President of NAHEOG called on religious leaders to establish skills centres, provide equipment and scholarships, and implement mentorship programmes. He also suggested partnerships with industry to create employment opportunities for young people. Such initiatives, he believes, can connect graduates with prospective employers and support them in becoming self-reliant.

Addressing the graduands, Mr Eyiah emphasized that operating heavy-duty equipment requires not only technical competence but also a strong sense of responsibility for human lives and workplace safety. He urged the graduates to uphold discipline, honesty, and respect for safety regulations. Mr Eyiah noted that NAHEOG had equipped the graduands with skills relevant to various industries, including construction sites, mines, ports, and others that contribute to Ghana's economic growth.

The 11th graduation ceremony demonstrated the impact of technical and vocational training on transforming lives. Mr Eyiah stated that such training provides young people with opportunities to secure employment, build businesses, and contribute to national development. He further called for stronger collaboration among religious institutions, government, industry, and training organisations to address unemployment and expand opportunities for skills development.

Mr Eyiah encouraged the graduates to look beyond seeking jobs and consider how their skills could help them create value, establish businesses, and support others. He emphasized that when faith meets skills, hope becomes opportunity. The graduands were urged to apply their skills effectively and make a positive impact in their communities.
