Mr. Lawrence Yeboah Gyan, a journalist with Wisdom FM, the campus radio of the Catholic University of Ghana, has been named the 2025 Bono Regional Best Journalist. The award was presented at the fourth edition of the Bono Regional Journalists Awards organized by the Bono Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association in Sunyani. Gyan's achievement was announced on September 21, 2026.
In addition to the Best Journalist award, Gyan also received recognition in the Health and Medical Care and Children Advocacy categories. Other notable winners included Mr. Biiya Mukusah Ali of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, who won two awards in Tourism and Agriculture/Agri-business Reporting. Mr. Daniel Bruce Dzirasah of the New Times Corporation won two awards in Development Reporting and Mining Reporting.
The Bono Regional Journalists Awards honored a total of 15 individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to journalism in the region. Mr. Claud Kumi Abisa of Media General won the Tourism category, while Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Gyan of Sky FM was adjudged the best Radio Documentary Reporter. Mr. Precious Semevor of the Multimedia Group won the Energy and Green Transition category.
The awards ceremony also recognized institutions that have supported the Ghana Journalists Association's activities in the region. ActionAid Ghana, Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation, the Bank of Ghana, and Nsoatreman Community Bank were among the institutions honored. Two retired journalists, Dr. Leonard Victor Amengor and Mr. Charles Koomson, were also awarded for their contributions to the growth and development of the media in the region.
Upon receiving the award, Gyan expressed his elation and described it as a reflection of his professional journey and the responsibility that comes with journalism. He noted that his experience working with the Ghana News Agency had taught him the importance of fact-checking and responsible storytelling.
