Lawal Daura, the vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples' Movement (APM), has emphasized the need for a free and fair electoral process in the 2027 elections. Speaking at the launch of the national campaign management committee (NCMC) of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO), Daura stated that attempts to rig the election would be met with resistance. He warned those plotting to manipulate the electoral process that they have a surprise coming.

According to Daura, the number of registered voters in Nigeria has surpassed 100 million, a significant figure for the 2027 elections. He described this as a crucial aspect for political parties, emphasizing the need to court the majority of these voters. Daura stated that the APM is aiming to secure at least two-thirds of the 103 million registered voters. He stressed that political parties should focus on convincing Nigerians through their programmes and the quality of their candidates rather than seeking shortcuts.

Daura emphasized that the APM's objective is to "reset" Nigeria, a task that requires people with quality, focus, determination, and a strong resolve to succeed. He stated that the struggle for a free and fair election is real, and the party will ensure that everything is done in accordance with the law and the Electoral Act. Daura's warning against electoral manipulation comes as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

Felix Hayat, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, expressed the team's readiness to confront the challenges facing the country. He urged young Nigerians to reject political choices based solely on religion, ethnicity, or regional sentiments. Hayat emphasized the importance of thinking critically about the future and protecting it, saying that nobody will do it for them.

Yusuf Dantalle, the National Chairman of the APM, advised members of the campaign organisation to work with the party's structures to achieve victory. He noted that the goal is to deliver Makinde and Daura and subsequently form the government in 2027. Dantalle emphasized the importance of managing internal differences, saying that this will determine the organisation's strength.

Dantalle asked the newly inaugurated members of the campaign committee to see their appointment as the beginning of the work rather than an achievement. He emphasized that the party's success depends on the collective efforts of its members. The APM is gearing up for the 2027 elections, with a focus on securing a significant number of votes.

The launch of the NCMC marks a significant milestone in the APM's campaign preparations. With a focus on convincing voters through its programmes and candidate quality, the party is positioning itself for a strong showing in the 2027 elections. Daura's warning against electoral manipulation serves as a reminder of the party's commitment to a free and fair electoral process.
