The group's Lagos State Students' Coordinator, Sanni Olamide, stated that the initiative focuses on education, youth participation, opportunities, and national development. The group has coordinators in 10 major tertiary institutions and campus coordinators at Caleb University and the National Open University of Nigeria.
The group plans to mobilize at least 100,000 voters from students and young people through focused campus-to-campus mobilization and engagement with student leaders and key student groups. Campus coordinators and volunteers will drive outreach and maintain regular contact with students. The students' wing will provide a platform for students to access information, ask questions, and engage with policymakers and political stakeholders.
The group will organize Lagos Students Policy and Development Symposia and campus town-hall meetings to discuss education, employment, entrepreneurship, and technology. These events aim to provide a platform for students to engage with policymakers and stakeholders on issues affecting them. Additionally, the group plans a proposed one-million-man Lagos students and youth march to express support for Tinubu's re-election bid and the continuation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ali Balogun, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Somolu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, urged young Nigerians to actively participate in nation-building. He emphasized that the decisions young Nigerians make today will influence the Nigeria that emerges tomorrow. Balogun stressed the importance of education, noting that it should go beyond obtaining certificates and teach critical thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful contribution to society.
Balogun also urged students to develop skills in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital finance, and automation. He identified areas where young Nigerians could apply their knowledge to develop solutions, such as transportation, education, healthcare, housing, agriculture, waste management, and financial inclusion. By doing so, they can move from being consumers to creators of technology.
