A student-led political group in Lagos State, the KOH 4 Lagos Students Movement, has announced its support for the incumbent Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, and other candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. The movement is particularly backing Hamzat due to his infrastructure development and technological governance efforts. Ajao praised Hamzat as the "gold standard of modern public administration and technological governance," citing his previous roles as Commissioner for Science and Technology and Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure. Hamzat's contributions to digitalizing state records, developing information technology infrastructure, and introducing technology-driven public services were also highlighted.
During his tenure as commissioner for works and infrastructure, Hamzat oversaw road networks, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. The movement's endorsement will be followed by a grassroots mobilization campaign across tertiary institutions, student hostels, and youth centers in Lagos State. The group aims to encourage students and young people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the elections.
The movement will embark on door-to-door, hall-to-hall, and digital outreach campaigns to mobilize students and increase voter turnout. Ajao stated that the students of Lagos State stand for continuity, competence, legislative excellence, and student-centered governance. The movement also urged students to participate in the electoral process and support the other candidates included in its political alignment.
