The Lagos State Police Command has made significant strides in its fight against crime in the state. According to Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, the command has arrested 32 suspects and recovered various stolen items, including 43 vehicles, N2.5m, and several arms and ammunition. The recovered items include 5 pump-action guns, 5 locally made pistols, 20 live ammunition/cartridges, 15 expended ammunition, 2 cutlasses, and assorted suspected criminal charms. Additionally, the police recovered a television set, a radiator, a car jack, a bag containing different vehicle spare parts and tools, and vandalised electrical wires. The command also recovered 2 vehicle keys.
The operations were carried out to tackle various crimes, including armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms. One of the notable incidents occurred on September 26, 2026, when police officers were on stop-and-search duty along Olugbede Street, Egbeda. The officers signalled a Lexus ES 350, registration number FKJ 223 KX, driven by Olumide Olusola, to stop. However, the driver sped off, knocking down and dragging Sergeant Johnson Okediji underneath the vehicle for several metres. The officer sustained multiple fractures and serious head injuries and was later pronounced dead on arrival at LASUTH.
