The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, Taiye Majekodunmi, for allegedly possessing a concealed gun hidden in a loaf of bread. According to Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, the boy was arrested in the Cappa area of Oshodi while on his way to deliver a pistol to an unknown person. The police recovered a locally made fabricated Beretta pistol, four rounds of unexpended 9mm ammunition, and a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun from the suspect.
The police also arrested 32 other suspects for various crimes, including armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms. The suspects were arrested during intelligence-led operations conducted by the police. The police recovered various items, including 43 vehicles, two vehicle keys, vandalised electrical wires, ₦2.5 million in cash, five pump-action guns, and 20 live rounds of ammunition.
The police also recovered a black pump-action gun and 11 live cartridges from Banjo Taiwo, a 47-year-old man, in Igbogbo, Ikorodu. Three suspects, Lekan Jimoh, Oyepeju Olanrewaju, and Olurebi Suleiman, were arrested in the Idi-Oro area of Mushin during a separate operation. The police are investigating the suspects and recovering more exhibits.
One of the suspects, Ojo Azeez, 32, was arrested after a hot chase along Oko Oba Road. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size pistol, a radiator, a jack, an engine block, and a bag containing different vehicle spare parts and tools. The police are investigating Azeez's involvement in other criminal activities.
The police also arrested Ezekiel Sunday Obi, 29, for allegedly invading a lounge and nightclub in the Abule Egba area of the state. Obi was arrested at the Toll Gate, Lagos-Ogun boundary, and the police are working to arrest other members of the gang and recover exhibits. The incident occurred on September 27, 2026.
In another operation, the police arrested Ogunbayo Abdulwahib, who led them to Muritical Hotel and Suites, where ₦2.5 million and three mobile phones were recovered from his room. The police are working to apprehend other fleeing suspects involved in the crime. The operations were part of the police's efforts to curb crime in Lagos State.
