Nigerian Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has facilitated a reconciliation between Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and Mustapha Adekunle, aka Tafa Sego, who are prominent figures in the National Union of Road Transport Workers. The meeting took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, with several NURTW chieftains in attendance. Kwam 1, who acted in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland, sought to end the long-standing rift between the two NURTW leaders.
The disagreement between MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego has been linked to the leadership of the NURTW in Lagos, with both men emerging as prominent figures within the transport organisation. The dispute has previously spilled into public events, including a violent incident at an APC campaign rally in January 2019. MC Oluomo was among several people injured during the rally, which was disrupted by a supremacy battle involving supporters of MC Oluomo and Sego.
Despite the previous tensions, Sego was appointed to the caretaker committee of the NURTW led by MC Oluomo in September 2019. However, tensions surrounding the Lagos chapter of the union resurfaced in subsequent years, particularly over leadership and control of the union's operations. In January 2024, MC Oluomo resigned as chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the NURTW amid a power struggle.
A fresh public display of tension between the two camps occurred at Kwam 1's New Year All White Party in Lagos on January 2, 2026. A video from the event showed members associated with Sego's faction reacting after Kwam 1 publicly recognised MC Oluomo as the head of the NURTW. The incident reportedly caused a commotion at the event, after which Kwam 1 appealed to the NURTW leaders to unite.
The latest meeting at Ojusagbola, facilitated by Kwam 1, brought the two men together again in an effort to resolve their differences. According to Kwam 1's digital media page, the long-standing disagreement has been resolved, with both parties pleased with the development. The post stated that this reconciliation is final and not just another handshake for the cameras.
