The KOK Mandate Group, a political organisation, has initiated a mobilisation drive to garner support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s governorship ambition in Lagos State. As part of this effort, the group has deployed 372 Polling Booth Ambassadors (PBAs) to 186 polling units in Ejigbo Local Government Area. The ambassadors, deployed through the group’s Independent Campaign Group (ICG), will use micro-targeting strategies to canvass registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The deployed ambassadors have been tasked with using a micro-targeting approach to engage with voters, focusing on those verified to be on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) register. This strategy aims to optimise campaign efforts and make them more cost-effective. According to Bamigbetan, the leader of the group and former chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, this approach is more efficient and prudent compared to traditional door-to-door campaigns and roadshows.

To support the ambassadors in their campaign efforts, the group has provided them with polling-unit-specific voter registers and designated booklets to record the outcomes of their engagements. Additionally, each ambassador has been given a N10,000 mobilisation grant to facilitate their activities, such as pasting campaign posters and interacting with voters. The group has also distributed 10,000 explainer cards that detail 50 achievements of the Tinubu administration to equip the ambassadors with necessary information.

The KOK Mandate Group’s mobilisation programme, which spans ten weeks, operates under the slogan, “PBA – Target the voters; the rest will follow.” The group’s efforts are not limited to mobilisation alone; they also aim to nurture democratic values and encourage grassroots political participation within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bamigbetan emphasised that the movement seeks to promote true democratic practices, respecting the will of the majority and discouraging autocratic tendencies.

The group’s initiative also includes a plan to engage with voters who initially decline to support Tinubu and Hamzat. These voters will be referred to a secondary team for further engagement. Information gathered from the ambassadors will guide targeted empowerment initiatives, ensuring that the campaign efforts are data-driven and effective. Furthermore, Hamzat’s governorship manifesto will be distributed as part of the mobilisation drive to ensure voters are well-informed about his plans.

The KOK Mandate Group’s efforts reflect a broader strategy to ensure substantial support for Tinubu’s re-election and Hamzat’s governorship bid in Lagos State. By focusing on grassroots mobilisation and using innovative campaign strategies, the group aims to make a significant impact in the 2027 general elections. The deployment of ambassadors and the distribution of informational materials are key components of this strategy, designed to engage voters directly and promote the candidates’ agendas.
