Kojo Fosu Boadu, known as Kojo Bamba, the First National Vice Chairman of Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed reports of a rift with the party's Second National Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B. He clarified that his absence from a recent meeting between NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and newly elected national executives was due to another commitment.
According to Kojo Bamba, he had sought permission from the party to be absent from the meeting, which was held after the NPP's national elections. His explanation aims to quell speculation and social media reports suggesting tensions between him and Nana B. Kojo Bamba emphasized that he has maintained a cordial relationship with Nana B over the years, having worked together without issues for about 8 to 10 years.
Kojo Bamba and Nana B were among the three candidates elected to the NPP's vice-chairmanship positions at the party's National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on October 3. Kojo Bamba secured the First National Vice Chairman position with 3,116 votes, while Nana B obtained 3,061 votes to become Second National Vice Chairman. Nana Akomea was elected Third National Vice Chairman with 2,981 votes.
In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, October 7, Kojo Bamba addressed the rumors, stating that he had called Nana B and other aspirants after the contest to share ideas on working together. He expressed his commitment to putting the election behind them and focusing on rebuilding the NPP to challenge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.
The NPP's national elections took place recently, and the party is now gearing up for future challenges. Kojo Bamba's clarification on his relationship with Nana B aims to promote unity within the party. He emphasized that his absence from the meeting was not a result of any disagreement with Nana B.
The new NPP leadership, including Kojo Bamba and Nana B, is expected to work together to strengthen the party. Kojo Bamba's message of unity and cooperation comes at a time when the NPP is preparing for the 2028 general elections. He encouraged the party members to focus on rebuilding and preparing for future challenges.
Kojo Bamba concluded by reiterating his commitment to working with Nana B and other party members to achieve the NPP's goals. The party's ability to present a united front will be crucial in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections.
