The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has received a significant boost ahead of the 2027 general elections, as stakeholders in Bunu District of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Sunday Karimi for re-election. The endorsement was made during a large-scale APC rally held at the Community Primary School, Odo-Ape, headquarters of Bunu District. The district comprises six wards in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
The APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, and other stakeholders declared their support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as Senator Karimi for another term representing Kogi West Senatorial District. Meseko urged the people of Bunu to give massive support to President Tinubu and Senator Karimi in the 2027 general elections, citing the Tinubu administration's policies and programmes in infrastructure, economic reforms, education financing, and social interventions.
According to Meseko, some of the economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government had been difficult but had also attracted investments and strengthened confidence in the Nigerian economy. He commended Senator Karimi for improved legislative representation in Kogi West, urging constituents to support him for another term to enable him to consolidate on ongoing projects and programmes. Meseko expressed confidence that Bunu District would record strong electoral support for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Senator Sunday Karimi thanked the people of Bunu District for the endorsement, describing it as an indication of their confidence in his representation. Karimi expressed support for President Tinubu's re-election bid, highlighting the administration's interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, economic reforms, and security. He listed some of his interventions in Kogi West, including educational support for students, empowerment programmes for women, and provision of solar-powered boreholes.
Karimi's interventions in Kogi West also include the reconstruction of the Pakuta Bridge, renovation of schools, provision of electricity transformers, and support for youths and farmers. He said his office had facilitated employment opportunities and distributed palliatives and agricultural inputs to constituents. Karimi cited the removal of fuel subsidy, establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and clearance of foreign exchange obligations as some of the initiatives of the Tinubu administration.
The Chairman of Bunu District APC, Pastor Obayomi Lawrence, commended Senator Karimi for significant interventions across the district, including student support programmes, women empowerment initiatives, and provision of boreholes. Obayomi pledged the support of APC members in Bunu District for the party's candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. Other speakers at the event also expressed support for the APC's 2027 political agenda.
The event culminated in the presentation of an award of excellence to Senator Karimi for "Unequalled Representation in Kogi West's History." The APC stakeholders and supporters present at the rally unanimously adopted a motion seeking the formal endorsement of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and Senator Karimi for another term.
