Kirinyaga woman representative Njeri Maina has unveiled a new lifestyle brand, Skinly, which brings together skincare, fashion, and wellness services aimed at women and young people. The brand was launched at Bonsai Villa in Gigiri, Nairobi, and was attended by prominent figures from politics, law, media, and civil society. Maina's venture is an expansion of her portfolio beyond her role in the National Assembly.

Skinly offers a range of services, including skincare products for various skin types, facial analysis, beauty therapy, manicures, and pedicures, as well as a fashion line featuring shoes, dresses, hats, and fascinators. The brand's signature pink and pastel aesthetic is designed to create a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere for customers. Maina stated that her personal interests in skincare and fashion drove the concept of Skinly.

Maina emphasized that Skinly is a one-stop destination for women's personal care, acknowledging the importance of skincare in many women's lives. She described the brand as a space where women can feel celebrated and empowered, while also taking time for themselves. Skinly is based at Covo Square along Gitanga Road in Nairobi.

The launch of Skinly has already created employment opportunities, with six young people under the age of 25 hired so far. Maina expects to create further jobs as the business grows. She acknowledged that launching a venture in the current economic climate, with the 2027 general election approaching, raised questions about timing.

Despite this, Maina expressed her confidence in Kenya and its institutions, stating that she wants her launch to demonstrate that investments can be made and businesses built even during uncertain times. She believes that delaying the launch would not be a realistic option, as there is no perfect time to start.

As a leader, Maina aims to demonstrate that it is possible to serve in politics and still invest in a business. She emphasized the importance of believing in the strength of Kenya's institutions and having confidence in society. Maina also operates Njeri Maina Law Advocates and recently released a reggae single titled "Hit and Run."

The lifestyle brand is a significant step in Maina's diversified portfolio, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to empowering women and creating jobs. With its unique offerings and celebratory atmosphere, Skinly aims to become a go-to destination for women's personal care and lifestyle needs.
