Work is progressing steadily on a six-unit classroom block and an ultramodern KG block with offices and a 12-unit W/C toilet facility being constructed for the Gurumaline Islamic School in Kintampo, Ghana. The facility, funded by GETFund, includes a day nursery and a modern 12-seater toilet facility for boys and girls fitted with a water closet system powered by a borehole drilled by the contractor.
The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Mr. Joseph Kwame Kumah, lobbied the GETFund Secretariat as Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education to secure the project. Kumah ensured Kintampo North was not left out after the National Education Forum held in the Volta Region. He explained that the project includes a six-unit classroom block with accessories like a day nursery and a 12-seater toilet facility for boys and girls.
Previously, the Gurumaline Islamic School had no toilet facility and no changing room for girls. The school's conditions have improved under the reset agenda of former President John Dramani Mahama. Kumah stated that all those necessities were not part of the old structures but are now being implemented. The MP's efforts have brought relief to the students and teachers.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Isaac Donkor, described the project as the handiwork of President Mahama and the NDC government. He added that it is one of about seven classroom projects ongoing in the municipality. Donkor mentioned that the contractor is doing excellent work, not only at Gurumaline Islamic Primary but also at Gulumpe, where a similar project is underway.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, inspected the project and lauded the MP, the MCE, and the former MP for the area, Mr. Kwasi Etu-Bonde, for working together to realise the government's resetting agenda. Antwi expressed satisfaction over the quality and progress of work on the project. The community is very happy with the project's progress.
The new facilities will provide a conducive learning environment for the students. The ultramodern KG block and six-unit classroom block will help address the educational needs of the community. The sanitation facilities will also promote hygiene and health among the students.
The project's completion is expected to have a positive impact on education in Kintampo North. The collaboration between the MP, MCE, and other stakeholders has made the project a reality.
