The Kinango Road in Kenya is undergoing significant transformation under President William Ruto's administration, with approximately 75 per cent of the work already completed. The road, which had remained largely undeveloped for decades, is now nearing completion. A statement defending the progress of the project notes that focusing only on sections where construction is still ongoing ignores the improvements already made along the route.

The stretch from Samburu towards Kinango Town has already been tarmacked, while a 23-kilometre section around Moyeni has also been completed. Construction is continuing on the remaining portions, with the outstanding works expected to be completed by around February 2027. The road had remained difficult to navigate since independence, but is now undergoing significant transformation.

The defence of the Kinango Road project comes amid broader claims that the government has made progress on several development initiatives across the Coast region. The government cites changes in healthcare financing, particularly for families dealing with expensive conditions such as kidney disease and cancer.

According to the statement, families that previously had to sell goats or land to raise money for treatment can now access healthcare without facing the same financial pressure. This is part of the government's efforts to improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

The statement also highlights the government’s fertiliser subsidy programme, claiming that farmers in Kilifi who previously struggled to afford the input can now purchase fertiliser at KSh2,000. The reduced cost has helped farmers access the supplies they need to improve agricultural production.

Senator Edwin Sifuna and his counterpart have previously remarked on the Kinango Road project, with the government defending its progress. The government maintains that President Ruto’s leadership should ultimately be judged by tangible results and the experiences of ordinary Kenyans rather than political slogans.

The Kinango Road project is part of President Ruto's development record in the Coast region, which includes several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Kenyans. The project's progress is a significant milestone in the government's efforts to transform the region.
