Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has initiated a support program for farmers and electoral areas in her constituency. On September 21, she distributed 2,000 bags of 60kg fertilizer to farmers in the municipality to boost agricultural production. This intervention aims to enhance food security and economic empowerment in the area.
The distribution of fertilizer was complemented by the provision of streetlights to communities to augment security within the various traditional areas. Each of the three traditional areas in the Ketu South Municipality received 100 bags of fertilizer and 10 boxes of streetlights for distribution within their respective traditional areas. This move is expected to improve visibility and security during community activities, particularly as their annual festival celebrations approach.
The fertilizer distribution was carefully planned to benefit a wide range of farmers. The remaining fertilizer was distributed among farmers across the municipality, with each of the 41 wards receiving 15 bags, while each zone received 28 bags. Madam Gomashie emphasized that her approach to development is guided by the principle of empowering individuals with skills and resources. She described the fertilizer support as an investment in families, contributing to household incomes and the local economy.
Madam Gomashie highlighted the importance of farming as a means of skills development and economic empowerment. She mentioned that she had previously supported individual farmers with fertilizer and would continue to support farming, just as she has been supporting skills training in tailoring, hairdressing, phone repairs, and other areas.
