However, her marriage quickly unravelled due to online trolls who mocked her, saying she mistreated her white husband. The negativity spilt into her marriage, and the couple separated. She later moved to Belgium with a new partner but faced more challenges, including being detained at a border crossing during a holiday trip. Authorities believed she might be a minor and placed her in a room with children's furniture.
Nicole's lowest point came when she received psychological support twice a week for an extended period. By 2018, she had enrolled in school and was working on improving her language skills to qualify for a caregiving course. Despite her efforts to rebuild her life, Nicole described years of disturbed sleep, vivid nightmares, and supernatural presences in her home. She confided in Pastor T Mwangi, who told her that certain habits and objects in her home were opening spiritual doors.
Pastor Mwangi warned Nicole that she was in a spiritual battle and that her life could be in danger. She recounted two near-miss incidents in Europe, once nearly struck by a tram and another time by a car that mounted the pavement. Nicole and her pastor linked these events to what he described as "numbered days." When Nicole returned to Kenya in 2023, she prayed over her family home and anointed the grounds with red wine and olive oil. Shortly after, her brother struck something buried in the soil while tilling the farm. Her mother later found a missing cooking pot with a container holding a piece of paper listing family members' names in what appeared to be a curse, allegedly placed there by a deceased aunt.
The discovery of the cooking pot and the curse confirmed everything Pastor Mwangi had warned Nicole about. The names on the paper included her mother and two of her brothers, each seemingly assigned a fate. Nicole stated that there was a lot of witchcraft paraphernalia. She credits persistent prayer and her Christian faith with seeing her through what she describes as 20 years of attacks that followed her across two continents.
