Kenya has been chosen to host the Africa Boxing Championships, a premier continental event, from October 15-28 at Kasarani Stadium. A total of 17 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the championships, including Kenya, Niger, Lesotho, Guinea, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Libya, Egypt, Ghana, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Zambia, Somalia, and Ethiopia. The event is expected to attract top boxers from across the continent, competing in various weight categories.
Kenya has a strong team of technical personnel, including referees and judges, who are qualified to officiate at the championships. Munuhe mentioned that Kenya has five IBA-Star-Three-qualified referee and judges, including Nelson Otieno, Samuel Obiero, and Edward Kibunja Mwaura. Additionally, the country has five IBA-Star-Two-qualified referees and judges, including Hellen Wathiga and David Ouma.
