Kenya Power has announced that it will be undertaking scheduled electricity maintenance in several parts of the country on September 29, 2026. The planned interruptions will affect various counties, including Nairobi, Samburu, Nyandarua, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kisii, Migori, Nyeri, Embu, Kiambu, and Kitui. The maintenance is aimed at facilitating repairs and improvements to the electricity distribution network.
In Nairobi, the maintenance will be carried out in areas such as Mbaazi Avenue and Hatheru Road, with outages scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include part of Naivasha Road, Riara Road, and adjacent customers. Additionally, areas along Githunguri Road and Laikipia Road will also experience power outages during the same period, affecting locations such as Githunguri Road, Laikipia Road, and Kileleshwa Police Station.
The maintenance will also affect the Central Rift Region, specifically Samburu and Nyandarua counties. In Kinamba, Sipili, and Ouabet, the power outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting locations such as Moran, AAA Growers, Mwanzi Farm, and Maralal Township. Furthermore, areas in Uasin Gishu county, including Sirikwa and Cicada, will experience power outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Sirikwa Hotel, Cicada, and Zion Mall.
In the Western Region, Kisumu county will experience maintenance in Miguye and Huma. The power outage in Miguye will affect Miguye Primary School and Miguye Village from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while in Huma, the interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Huma Girls, Arude School, and Marera. Additionally, areas in Kisii county, including Keroka and Rianyoka, will experience power outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The maintenance will also affect Migori county, with areas in Nyabohanse and Isebania experiencing power outages from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Isebania Town, Sorore Water Treatment, and Nyangoge. In the Mt Kenya Region, Nyeri county will experience maintenance in Solio Ranch and Solio Lodge from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Solio Ranch, Solio Lodge, and Solio Cattle Dip.
Embu county will also experience power outages, with areas in Majengo affected from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Affected locations include Majengo Chief’s Camp, KIE Majengo, and Salkan Hotel. Additionally, areas in Kiambu county, including Kahawa Sukari, will experience power outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Kahawa Sukari Estates, Felma Shopping Centre, and Quickmart Supermarket.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements ahead of the planned interruptions and to treat all electrical installations as live once power is restored.
