Kenya Power has announced that it will be conducting planned electricity maintenance across several counties in Kenya on September 30, 2026. The maintenance is scheduled to take place at different times depending on the affected areas, with customers advised to make the necessary arrangements before power is switched off. The counties affected include Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Embu, and Kitui.
In Nairobi, several parts of the city will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The areas affected include Riverside Drive, Riverside Gardens, Mzima Springs Road, and surrounding areas. Other affected customers include Strathmore High School, IOM Mzima Springs, Mandari Kindergarten, the German Embassy, Uganda High Commission, and several commercial buildings.
The maintenance will also affect other areas of Nairobi, including Mombasa Road, where REREC Offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knight, Viraj Complex, Crown Health, Auto Express, and Total Petrol Station will experience an interruption. Additionally, customers along Nyerere Road, Mamlaka Road, and Upper State House Road, including Serena Hotel, will also be affected.
In the Western Region, Kakamega County will experience maintenance in Khayega from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Iguhu Hospital, Khayega, Makhokho Secondary School, Shishesia, Ivonda, and Shirere. In Kisumu County, customers in Tido will experience an interruption from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Tido Primary School, Mbeme Primary School, Ooko Market, Kolewe, and Rarieda.
In the South Nyanza Region, Homa Bay County will experience maintenance around Yala Kotieno from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Yala Kotieno Secondary School, Kalanding Secondary School, Ong’amo Dispensary, and Rangach Madiny Village. In Migori County, parts of Kehancha and Ntimaru will experience an interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Mt Kenya Region will also be affected, with Nyeri County experiencing maintenance in Miiri and Kiangai from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Miiri Market, Miiri Kiawaiguru, Kiangai, Maganjo, Kiangai Market, Kianyange, Kiangai Coffee Factory, and Kianwe. In Embu County, maintenance in Gachoka, Meka, Muraru, and Rwika will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Finally, in the North Eastern Region, Kitui County will experience maintenance in Kangweni, Nzangathi, and Kanzauwu from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Kangweni, Kivumbuni, Kwa Makombo, Nzangathi, and Kanzauwu. Kenya Power has advised customers to make the necessary arrangements to minimize the impact of the power outages.
