Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power outages across five counties on Wednesday, September 23. The utility company stated that the outages are necessary for maintenance, upgrades, and replacement of faulty power lines. This will also enable the connection of new customers to the power grid. In the Kitui area, power outages will occur in Kalisasi, Mumbuni, and Musukini from 8am to 5pm. The affected areas include Mwingi Hospital, Kalisasi, Musukini, Ndaluni, Katalwa, Muutwaathi, Mumbuni, and Mathyakani. In Murang'a, the areas of Njumbi, Ngutu, and Kanorero will be affected from 8am to 5pm. The power interruptions will impact Kanorero, Njumbi, Nyakianga, Gikoe, Kangunu, Ngutu, Muiriini, Karunge, and Kanjahi.
The Meru area will experience power outages in Kinoro Tea Factory and Egoji Hospital from 8:30am to 5pm. The affected areas include Miruriri Market, Miruriri Girls Secondary School, Kauro Village, Giumpu, Kiaruo Village, New Blaze Primary School, Kuiri C/Factory, Rigiri C/Factory, Kinoro Market, Rwarene Primary School, Mweru Market, KARI Centre, Rai C/Factory, St. Mary Igoji, Geeto Primary School, Gatangugi Market, and Mboroga.
In Nyeri, the areas of Tumutumu Hospital and Ngandu Girls will be affected from 8am to 5pm. The power outages will impact Gatomboya, Githima, Cosato Coffee Mill, Giaituu, Tegu C/Factory, Mathaithi, Rugoka, Giagatika Market, Mbogo-Ini, Tumutumu Primary School, Tumutumu Hospital, Tumutumu Secondary School, Karia, Ikonju, Kiangoma Market, Kiangoma Primary School, Karie C/Factory, Mungaria Polytechnic, Wakamata, Kaiyaba, Mathira Technical Institute, Ngandu Girls Secondary School, Safaricom Boosters, and Airtel Boosters.
In Nairobi, part of Kitsuru will experience power outages from 9am to 5pm. The affected areas include part of Kirawa Road and adjacent customers. KPLC has assured that the power interruptions are necessary to improve the power grid and provide reliable services to customers. The scheduled outages are part of KPLC's efforts to upgrade and maintain the power infrastructure.
