The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, D.C. has announced 13 vacant positions across six different roles for the 2026/2027 period. The embassy is offering two-year fixed-term contracts renewable based on performance, operational needs, and continued funding. The vacancies include four driver positions, three clerk positions, three consular assistant positions, one receptionist/telephone operator, one administrative assistant, and one accounts assistant.

To qualify for any of the advertised roles, applicants must be US citizens, Green Card holders, or persons with valid US work authorization. All candidates must also possess a valid police clearance certificate or equivalent background clearance documentation. Applications must include an updated curriculum vitae with at least two professional referees, as well as copies of work authorization documents, academic certificates, professional certificates, and any other relevant supporting materials.

The driver roles require a high school diploma, a valid US driver's license with a clean record, and a minimum of five years' experience as a professional chauffeur. Knowledge of the Washington Metropolitan Area is listed as a key competency. Clerks, the receptionist, and consular assistants each require a high school diploma, at least two years of relevant experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

The administrative assistant position requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, social sciences, or an equivalent qualification, alongside at least two years of relevant work experience. The accounts assistant role calls for a Diploma in Business covering accounting, finance, or business management, with a minimum of two years of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration. Familiarity with accounting software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel are listed among the core competencies.

Prior experience in a diplomatic mission or international organization is considered an added advantage across all six categories. Interested candidates have until October 12, 2026, to submit their applications via email or post to the Embassy. The Embassy has set a deadline of Monday, October 12, 2026, at 17:00 hours Eastern Daylight Time.

Candidates may submit applications by email to [email protected] or by post addressed to the Ambassador at 2249 R Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, at which point they will be required to present original academic and professional documents. The embassy warned that any form of canvassing would lead to automatic disqualification and that applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

In other news, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted 13 candidates for the Data Commissioner position from 152 applications received after the vacancy was advertised in August. The candidates will be interviewed on October 5, 2026, at the PSC headquarters on Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
