KejaMove, a Nairobi-based moving and relocation company, has launched Africa's first automated moving quotation service inside WhatsApp. The new tool, called the KejaMove AI Assistant, enables customers to get a calculated, ready-to-use moving quote, retrieve a quote they requested earlier, order packing materials, and get answers to common moving questions, all within a single WhatsApp chat. The service went live recently, and customers can try it by sending "Hi" to 0723 474 252.
The KejaMove AI Assistant collects a customer's move details directly in the chat and runs them through the same pricing engine that calculates quotes on kejamove.com. If the move qualifies, the assistant returns a price on the spot and generates a PDF quotation carrying a valid reference number, attached to the same conversation. This service is available for eligible home and domestic long-distance moves. According to KejaMove founder and CEO Joshua Mutua, the company has spent years building technology to take the guesswork and delays out of moving quotations.
The launch of the WhatsApp assistant is an extension of KejaMove's existing technology, which was previously built into its website. The AI-powered instant quoting system on the website and the WhatsApp assistant run on the same underlying engine. This allows customers to access the service on the platform they already use to communicate with the company. Mutua stated that bringing the technology to WhatsApp was the natural next step, as it's where customers already talk to them.
During testing, the system encountered some issues, including resolving locations. An ordinary Nairobi trip from Umoja to Donholm was briefly priced as though it covered roughly 312 kilometres due to the wrong location being resolved. KejaMove has since resolved this issue by ensuring that typed locations are verified against the geography it serves before calculating a route. Customers can also drop a WhatsApp location pin instead of typing an address for more precision.
The KejaMove AI Assistant offers more than just pricing. It can look up a customer's past quotations by phone number, take orders for packing materials sold through the KejaMove shop, and open inquiries for services that aren't priced automatically. These services include office moves, international relocation, storage, pet relocation, and decluttering. Customers can also ask for a person at any point in the chat, and the bot will hand the full conversation thread to a staff member.
KejaMove was selected in 2019 to join Alibaba's eFounders Fellowship, a program that gives African founders exposure to e-commerce and digital tools. Founder and CEO Joshua Mutua has been writing for TechMoran since at least 2018. Using the new assistant is straightforward: customers need to tell it their home size, share their moving locations, and get their quote and PDF instantly in the same chat.
The KejaMove AI Assistant is live now on WhatsApp, and customers can start a chat by messaging 0723 474 252 or get the same quote from the KejaMove website. The assistant provides a detailed PDF quotation with a valid reference number for automatically priced moves. If a move needs a survey instead of an instant price, the assistant arranges the right follow-up with KejaMove's team. Customers can also speak to a person at any point in the chat or call or WhatsApp KejaMove directly.
