Kaspersky, a leading cybersecurity company, has recently shared its expertise on how to effectively utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creating CVs that are both efficient and secure. According to their latest survey, 90% of respondents use AI-based tools, with one in five actively employing them in their job search. However, the role of AI in the recruitment process is still debated.
The use of AI in CV creation offers several advantages, including adapting the CV to specific job offers and inserting relevant keywords to pass automated pre-selection systems. Nevertheless, over-reliance on AI can lead to generic formulations and a loss of personal touch. To strike a balance, Kaspersky advises job seekers to prioritize data security and authenticity when using AI to enhance their CVs.
Before submitting their CV to a chatbot, individuals should remove all confidential information, including names, phone numbers, addresses, and scans of documents. It is also crucial to verify the chatbot's settings and disable the option that allows AI to learn from queries. Furthermore, users should ensure that the service has a comprehensive privacy policy in place.
Most large and medium-sized enterprises already utilize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), software that collects and sorts job applications. These ATS and modern HR platforms increasingly incorporate AI tools that automatically track and filter submitted CVs. However, even if a CV passes the initial AI filter, a human HR professional will review it, and an AI-generated style can negatively impact their impression.
To effectively utilize AI in CV creation, Kaspersky recommends that individuals start by writing their CV themselves, highlighting the most important points. They should then consult AI as an editor to refine formulations, improve structure, and emphasize relevant experience for the targeted position. This approach ensures that the CV remains authentic and showcases the individual's skills and experience.
Prior to sending their CV to recruiters, individuals should verify its confidentiality, removing unnecessary personal information and ensuring that it does not contain any information protected by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). They should also improve readability by using consistent headings, dates, and section ordering, and ensure accuracy by reviewing each statement.
According to Lama Saqquor, a security and privacy expert at Kaspersky, "AI-based writing tools are valuable for structuring and refining content, but it's essential to remember that public chatbots are data sponges. Providing an external AI platform with your entire professional history, contact information, or NDA-covered achievements can compromise the storage, processing, or potential exposure of sensitive information."
