Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appealed to political leaders in the North and North-West to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. Yusuf made this call while receiving 50 branded vehicles donated to the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Door-to-Door Campaign Organisation. The vehicles will be deployed to support APC political structures and campaign activities across Kano State.
According to Yusuf, power should remain in the South for a corresponding period after former President Muhammadu Buhari's eight-year tenure. He argued that Tinubu had spent about three and a half years in office and should be allowed to complete the South's eight-year period by securing another term. Yusuf declared that Kano and the North-West would support Tinubu's re-election.
The governor urged politicians across the country to ensure peaceful electioneering and called for issue-based campaigns ahead of the elections. He advised politicians to focus on their programmes and records rather than personal attacks. Yusuf also urged political parties and their supporters to shun violence and other criminal activities during the electioneering period.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has been conducting grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu's re-election, including the distribution of campaign vehicles in other northern states. The movement's national coordinator, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, donated the 50 vehicles to the APC in Kano State. Tompolo's movement aims to engage directly with residents and explain the administration's policies and programmes.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, commended Yusuf for his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid. Guwor identified the removal of the fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms, and ongoing infrastructure projects as some of the major policies of the Tinubu administration. He cited projects in Kano State, including the rail project and the revamp of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Guwor stated that coordinators and ambassadors would be positioned at ward and polling-unit levels to engage directly with residents and explain the administration's policies and programmes. The movement is targeting broad support for Tinubu across the country, with youth participation being an important component of the mobilisation exercise. The movement's national coordinator is a young person and former student union leader.
Yusuf expressed appreciation to Tompolo and the APC delegation for the donation, saying the Kano government and people appreciated the gesture. He added that the APC would campaign for Tinubu at the presidential level, as well as for its candidates at state and federal levels, in the 2027 elections.
