The Operator of Targeting and Orientation (OCO) of the second Project for Vocational Training, Insertion, and Support for Rural Youth Entrepreneurship (FIER II) was officially presented to authorities and local actors in Kangaba on October 7. The meeting, which brought together administrative and political leaders, professional organizations, and chambers of commerce, aimed to facilitate the operational deployment of the device and establish necessary collaboration modalities for inclusive targeting of rural youth.

The targeting and orientation device, led by the NGO CAEB, involves informing communities, conducting village diagnostics, identifying young people, and directing them to paths corresponding to their profile and project. Following the recruitment and training of counselors, their introduction to local actors constitutes a new stage in the process. The meeting also presented the NGO CAEB, its supervision team, and counselors assigned to Kangaba, as well as their responsibilities.

Participants were informed of the operator's mandate, project targets, proposed paths, and key stages of the targeting and orientation process. They were also urged to support the process, particularly in facilitating access to villages, informing communities, and encouraging participation from young girls, women, and people with disabilities.

The FIER II project, implemented by the Mauritanian government with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aims to promote rural entrepreneurship and foster economic integration of young people in agricultural value chains and non-agricultural occupations. The project targets rural youth aged 15 to 40, with a focus on young girls, women, and people with disabilities.

According to the project's coordinator, the device is designed to ensure inclusive targeting of rural youth. The coordinator emphasized the importance of collaboration between local actors, authorities, and the project's operators to ensure the success of the initiative.

The presentation of the targeting and orientation device marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the FIER II project. The project's success will depend on the effective collaboration of local actors, authorities, and the project's operators to ensure that the needs of rural youth are met and that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen paths.

The Mauritanian government's efforts to promote rural entrepreneurship and economic integration of young people are ongoing, with the FIER II project being one of several initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges faced by rural youth. The project's impact is expected to be significant, with potential long-term benefits for the country's economic development and poverty reduction.
