Frimpong is a product of Opoku Ware SHS and holds a City & Guilds Certificate in ICT from Hackney Community College, London. He also holds a BSc in Land Economy from 2002, an LLB from KNUST, and a Barrister at Law degree from the Ghana School of Law. Additionally, he has a Diploma in Financial Management from the Institute of Commercial Management, Bournemouth UK.
Before becoming the General Secretary of the NPP, Frimpong had a stint as an employee of Supersport UK and was part of the Local Organizing Committee for AFCON 2008 in Ghana. He also practiced law at Adomako Kwakye Law Consult in Kumasi and served as the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) from 2017 to 2022. Frimpong's political career includes being the Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer and substantive Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer.
Frimpong won the General Secretary position in 2022 with 2,837 votes, beating John Boadu who secured 2,524 votes. As General Secretary, he claims to have implemented several reforms, including the expansion of the electoral college, strengthening of the legal directorate, and implementation of the Oquaye Committee constitutional reforms. He also operationalized the Patriotic Institute, revived Sector Committees, expanded the digital membership database, and ensured transparent parliamentary primaries.
During his campaign for the re-election, Frimpong's slogan was "Prepared. Well-positioned. Focused. REBUILD." He acknowledged that the NPP's defeat in 2024 was painful but emphasized that the party is not a quitters.
