The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), an indigenous medical organization established in 1991, is seeking to fill 8 positions for Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants. The successful candidates will work under the leadership of the MEL Advisor to ensure clean and complete project data is collected and reported in a timely manner. The JCRC is located in Kampala, Uganda, and is a joint venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense, and Makerere University Medical School.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants will be responsible for implementing strategies to improve data demand and utilization at the facility and district level. They will work with cluster team members, health facility data clerks, and district teams to ensure data quality, analysis, and use for micro-planning and decision-making. The assistants will also participate in Quality Improvement meetings and train data clerks to use various databases, including EMR, MOH DHIS2, and other relevant databases.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants include ensuring timely and consistent data collection and reporting from all health facilities, strengthening health facility data collection, and summarizing performance data for district teams. They will also facilitate the interpretation and use of M&E data through quarterly district-level and facility-level review meetings and implement capacity building through workshops and on-the-job trainings.
The ideal candidate for the position must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, IT, or a relevant field. Additional training in data management packages is an added advantage. The candidate should have at least five years of experience in data management, experience in navigating DHIS2 and USG data requirements, and previous experience in supporting busy TB, TB/HIV district data systems.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants will provide technical support to data clerks at facilities, ensure high-quality record keeping, and maintain, troubleshoot, and support the patient-level Electronic Medical Record (EMR)/databases at supported sites. They will also respond to requests for standard and ad hoc data reports and work closely with district and facility teams to implement work plans.
