John Boadu has been elected as the new National Chairman of Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP). He secured 2,888 votes at the party's National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. In his acceptance address, Boadu described his victory as a mandate accompanied by considerable responsibility. He urged all members of the party to put the internal contest behind them and work collectively towards strengthening the NPP.

Boadu's administration will focus on strengthening the party at the regional and constituency levels, recognizing the importance of local structures to the NPP's organisational effectiveness and electoral performance. The national leadership will maintain close collaboration with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, party patrons, external branches, and other organised groups. This effort aims to reinforce the party's structures across the country.

The new National Chairman outlined plans to expand the party's engagement with voluntary organisations, social media practitioners, and traditional media organisations. He also aims to create greater opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in the party's activities. Leadership development will receive particular attention, including initiatives aimed at encouraging political participation and cultivating new leaders within tertiary institutions.

Boadu emphasized that the party's organisational and financial foundations must be strengthened, particularly at the constituency level. He pledged to work closely with NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other members of the national leadership towards that objective. Boadu cautioned party members against treating victory in the 2028 general election as an automatic outcome, arguing that the NPP would have to earn the confidence of Ghanaians through effective organisation, credible leadership, and sustained service.

The newly elected chairman called for renewed attention to grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment, and the participation of women in the party's political activities. He said the NPP would also need to strengthen its engagement with professionals, traditional authorities, and religious leaders as part of a broader strategy to reconnect the party with different sections of Ghanaian society.

Boadu appealed to party members to place collective service above individual ambitions and approach the new political phase with discipline, cooperation, and a shared commitment to the party's objectives. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new executive team to lead the party into the next electoral contest and sought to reassure supporters that the NPP would approach the 2028 campaign with renewed determination.

The election of Boadu as National Chairman follows the completion of the NPP's national executive elections, which also saw Justin Frimpong Kodua retain the position of General Secretary. Several other new executives were elected to key national positions. Boadu's remarks come as the party begins its organisational renewal and preparations for the 2028 elections.
