John Boadu has been elected as the new National Chairman of Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party's National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi. He secured 2,888 votes, accounting for 48.5% of the total votes cast. The conference, themed "One Party, One Purpose, United for Victory," saw Boadu emerge as the top contender, outpolling his closest rival, Boakye Agyarko Kyeremanteng, who garnered 2,408 votes.

John Boadu brings over three decades of experience in the NPP to his new role, having served in various capacities, including as the party's substantive and acting General Secretary. He played a crucial role in the party's successful campaigns in the 2016 and 2020 national presidential elections. Boadu also served as the Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Agency (SIGA) in the Akufo-Addo administration, overseeing public corporations and driving administrative reforms.

The NPP National Delegates Conference also saw the election of other national executives. Justin Kodua Frimpong was maintained as the General Secretary, winning with a massive 4,486 votes, the highest garnered by any contestant. Kojo Fosu Boadu, alias Kojo Bamba, became the 1st Vice Chairman with 3,116 votes, followed by Henry Nana Boakye with 3,061 votes and Nana Akomea with 2,987 votes.

Other elected party executives include Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover as National Organiser with 2,964 votes, Alfred Kwadwo Thompson as National Treasurer with 2,243 votes, and Mavis Hawa Yakubu as national Women's Organiser with 783 votes. Abanga Yakubu Fuseini emerged as National Youth Organiser with 1,550 votes, while Mohammed Ali Suraj was elected National Nasara Organiser with 372 votes. Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was elected unopposed as National Communications Director.

Ahead of the elections, NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia urged all aspirants to accept the outcome of the conference and work together to strengthen the party. He called on successful candidates to reach out to their opponents and encouraged those who lost to support the newly elected national executives.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in a video message, urged delegates to elect national executives who could provide effective leadership and help restore public confidence in the party. He emphasised the need for unity and democratic principles in choosing the party's next crop of leaders, stating that Ghana needs the NPP to lead it into prosperity and transformation.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also addressed the delegates, urging them to put sectional interests aside and unite behind efforts to rebuild the party ahead of the 2028 general elections. He expressed confidence that the party could return to government, drawing parallels with its electoral victories in 2000 and 2016, and reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP.
